7/31/2023 0 Comments Best contour palette 2016This product comes in two shades, light to medium and medium to dark. In fact, the formula applies very smoothly to the skin, and it’s creamy. Although it’s most suitable for oily/combination skin because of the powder finish, we loved that it is not too drying. You get four matte shades (bronzer, contour, highlighter, and blush) and two iridescent shades (bronze and shimmer highlighters). ![]() ![]() Based on countless user reviews and Youtube appreciation videos, this might currently be the best-rated contour kit around, especially if we only focus on powders. Bone structure, be mine. The Smashbox Cali Contour Face Palette is a pressed powder that will give you a matte or a shimmer finish. I pop a little on the Real Techniques Setting Brush and get to work. The two darker browns I don’t use as much but incorporate them a bronzers or cream eyeshadows sometimes, but Fawn? Well I’m in love. I find myself using the concealer colours more as a bit of extra coverage on areas of redness or blemishes (or to clean up any patches that I’ve got a bit wild with the deeper shades), the sheen cream as a highlighter (it’s beautiful) and then I’m obsessed with Fawn (far left, bottom row) as a contour shade – it’s like the cream version of the Kevyn Aucoin. The texture is creamy and blendable and not heavy on the skin at all, but there’s a thickness there which means that they adhere well and they last. There are six shades in there in total two pale concealer-like colours, three deep taupes and one that provides more of a glitter-free sheen to the skin. In fact I’ve surprisingly got a tonne of use from this since I got it, even on my minimal makeup wearing days. I’d actually been eyeing up the Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Series Contour Cream Kit in Fairfor yonks, so when I finally spotted it in stock I thought it was about time I made a purchase to use it as a little experiment – could this be the cream contour kit for me? You know what? I think it is. One thing that I’ve never really got to grips with though is cream contours, despite my love for a powder-free, glowy complexion. And if we’re talking palettes then I’m all about the Kat Von D Shade & Light Palette good colours, lovely textures – win win. It just makes me feel a little less football head and a little more cheekbone- y. If I’m having a makeup wearing day that’s above the level of ‘ minimal’ then it’s something that I always dip in to. Of course I love my Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder in Medium. ![]() My friends have all heard of it, but won’t touch a contour palette for fear of looking like they’ve smeared poop all over their faces and though I’m an avid watcher of tips and tricks, day-to-day it’s not really a technic that I employ. The art of sculpting is something those in the know have been doing for years, but now it’s mainstream in a big way. ![]() I find the subject of contouring weirdly fascinating. I even watched a video of someone contouring the back of their neck the other day. I love watching contouring how-to videos on YouTube (along with videos of kittens doing cute things, animals of different species who become best friends and viral videos that if you don’t cry whilst watching them, then you’re probably not human – you know the ones).
